Tutorial on how to measure
shower glass thickness.
Below we have displayed two methods on how to measure shower glass thickness. First we will measure the glass and then we will measure the sweep. Choose which choice is easier for you.

Learning the measurements.
Frameless shower glass is manufactured in four different thicknesses with 3/8” being the most popular. Other glass thicknesses:
1/4” (6mm)
5/16” (8mm)
3/8” (10mm)
1/2” (12mm)

How to measure
the shower glass thickness?
The glass will have a tapered edge, so always measure to the farthest points on the side of the glass. Since the tape measure has a metal clip attached to the end, its always better to start measuring at the 1” or 2“ mark. The most popular glass size is 3/8,” so your tape measure would read 1-3/8” because you started at the 1” mark.

Measuring the sweep.
Pressure holds the sweep on the glass, so remove it by pulling it off. With a metal clip at the end of the tape measure, its always better to start measuring at the 1” or 2“ mark. If the size is 3/8,” the tape measure would read 1-3/8” because you started at the 1” mark.
